"My practice of yoga began in 2000. After always leading an active lifestyle, I didn’t slow down much when I became pregnant. With my body going through natural changes, I needed more than the treadmill and barbells. I wanted to find something to compliment my weight training. I turned to yoga purely for the physical aspect and found immediate relief. The mental calmness that came along with it was something new to me and gave me a better understanding of my body and mind.
I’ve always been drawn to expanding and sharing my knowledge of nutrition and fitness. After I discovered how beneficial yoga was, I signed up for Yoga Fit Teachers Training. Yoga Fit enabled me with a non-intimidating teaching style that demystified yoga for the mainstream fitness enthusiasts.
My personal practice started to grow and one day in savasana, a shift took place that made me realize there was much more to explore. Wanting to deepen my knowledge of yoga, I began studying with Tracy Mann, Tanis Fishman, and Florin Voinescu at Yoga Passage. This step began a transformation in my life. I will always be grateful for the knowledge they’ve passed to me.
My practice today has developed into a spiritual path, opening my eyes to look at myself, the people that surround me, situations that present themselves, good and bad, in a new light. Yoga off the mat is a journey of liberation.
Within all of us, we are capable of finding peace. My aspiration is to bring myself closer to this through yoga and meditation. I’d like to guide my students to a better understanding of what that means to them.
Do what feels good in your practice and the rest will eventually follow. By doing this, yoga will bring you much more than you initially think."
