Tracy Mann
As a co-founder of Yoga Passage along with good friend Tom Sperandio, Tracy’s interests have always varied widely. After having graduated from university with three different degrees in Kinesiology, Commerce and the Arts, Tracy as an accomplished musician spent two years traveling and playing music professionally as a percussionist. His past and current yogic interests have taken him on travels through Turkey, Greece, Italy, Britain, U.S., Holland, Mexico, Belize, Central America, the Caribbean, China, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. He worked as a guide directing 21 day cycle trips through Vietnam a number of times.
A Black belt martial artist for many years, Tracy studied many styles including Judo, Karate and Aikido and taught and competed nationally. “There is a spirit and energy in the martial arts that I re-discovered in yoga and I feel so blessed to have it again in my life.”
Tracy has studied and practiced yoga with a variety of local and international teachers in a variety of styles: Patabhi Jois, Sharath Rangaswamy, David Williams, David Swenson, John Friend, Bryan Kest, Shiva Rea, Eric Shiffmann, Max Strom, Desiree Rumbaugh and others.
“I have found myself interested in all styles of yoga and that different people will find unique styles that work for them at different times of their lives.
For me a deep practice has very little to do with how complex the poses are. It is more of the human spirit, where breath takes one, the connection to stillness and being comfortable in one self again both physically, energetically and spiritually. The length of our muscles is not any measure of our true value as spiritual being. Our value is in our actions to each other and with our surroundings. Besides, are bodies like all things are impermanent. No need to get too attached.
It has been an incredible journey so far witnessing the growth of the local yoga community. I wish to express my thanks to all the wonderful teachers and dedicated practioners who have come together to support this warm and caring community. I greatly appreciate the encouragement and support of my inspirational friend Lerrita Rubinoff and my good friend and studio partner Tom Sperandio. I love what I do and it is only further enhanced with the blessing of a wonderful and supportive family. I cherish “my girls”, Jennifer and Olivia.”
